Decided by the Press Ombudsman

The Press Ombudsman has decided to uphold a complaint by Mr Paul Connors, National Director for Communications, Health Services Executive, that an article in the Irish Independent on 18 October 2013 was in breach of Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that The Nationalist made an offer of sufficient remedial action  to resolve a complaint made by Mr Bryan MacDonald that an article it  published was in breach of Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 3 (Fairness and Honesty) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that he has insufficient information to allow him make a decision in relation to a complaint made by Mr Sean Fitzgerald that an article published in the Sunday World on l7 November 2013 breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

The Press Ombudsman has decided to uphold a complaint made by Ms Alison Kelly that two articles published in the Sunday World on l0 and l7 November 2013 were in breach of Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that The Irish Times made an offer of sufficient remedial action  to resolve a complaint by Mr  Adam Levick, Managing Editor,  CiF Watch, that an article it published about massacres in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in 1982 was in breach of Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that the Irish Daily Mail took sufficient remedial action to resolve a complaint by Mr  Gerry Adams TD that an article about him was in breach of Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

The Press Ombudsman has decided to uphold a complaint by Dr Sandrine Brissett that an article published in the Sunday Independent on 13 October 2013 was in breach of Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.

The Press Ombudsman has decided to uphold a complaint by Mr Jim Hynes that two articles in the Sunday World about the murder of his partner, John Maguire, were in breach of Principle 5 (Privacy) of the Code of Practice for Newspapers and Magazines.
